GoFrendly is a community for all women who want to embrace their social self. Our goal is to make an app that understands our member’s social needs and fulfils them by letting each and every member discover, create and develop social interactions in a safe and inspirational space.
We are the fastest-growing social app in the Nordics, and 10% of all women in Sweden are now GoFrendly members. We’re recruiting a python backend developer to join our team and be part of our scale-up journey.
Backend Developer – Python
As our new backend developer, we want you to take progressive ownership of our backend and work closely with our lead developer, product owner, UX designer, ios and android developers, business developer, data analyst, customer support and marketing staff. And our mascot too, which we don’t have yet so you’ll have a chance to pick one. You will have your hands in the code and your head staring at the big picture.
Imagine building both Facebook, Tinder and Meetup at the same time and you will get an idea of the challenges you will face as a backend developer at Gofrendly. Except this time, you can get it right from the start. Our backend has a microservice architecture built around REST apis with clean swagger specifications and outstanding test coverage which allows us to refactor wildly and stay safe. We run kubernetes in google cloud, use datastore and elasticsearch, and an infrastructure-as-code approach to devops.
Python is our primary language. Proficiency in Python is a prerequisite. We also want you to have a good understanding of computer networks, internet protocols and databases, but we value more your capacity to learn than your past experience. And if you like or are curious about GCP, kubernetes, docker, elasticsearch, bigquery, sql and no-sql paradigms, machine learning, REST api design or test-driven development, you will find yourself at home with us.

You will join a small, agile, experienced and well mixed team. We nurture mutual trust and support among team members, and provide you with a space where you can be yourself and grow with us. We have a flat organisation and hold each other’s backs. Gofrendly is experiencing a strong growth phase, and that means you have to be ready to reinvent your workplace with us at regular intervals.
Our development team is remote-first, but we will favour applicants within at most 2 timezones and a reasonable travelling distance from our office in central Stockholm, Sweden. You should expect to travel to Stockholm for a few days at the beginning of your time with us (or for the CTO to travel to you), and again once or twice a year.
